Happy Birthday to me everyone!
I usually don’t get to celebrate my birthdays very much, as March is the month in which I ramp-up my resources (time&material) for things I enjoy even more than #IFRS15 and #ISA600: mainly traveling & teaching.
My B-Day Story:
2020 was an exceptional year, but let’s go back in time:
- 2020 was an exceptional year, but let’s go back in time:
- March 2017, my wife started saving for a sabbatical
- August 2017, we spent 5 weeks in Chicago; I found a CPA to work for
- August 2019, we left Germany for a year in Chicago
- September 2019, I started my gig as an Audit Manager
- March 2020, my wife and I turned 40
My Pivotal Moment in 2020:
With an invitation of my long-time friends (1996-curr.) to go on a #cruise in the Caribbean and prospects to take my wife on a #roadtrip, I spent months making plans. Flights, rental cars, hotels etc were already booked.
The Ides of March 20 (COVID-19) had other plans: My wife had to leave the U.S. two days earlier. I spent my birthday moving furniture and getting ready to take my plane home.
My B-Day Greetings 2021:
To my former co-workers and friends. I will return in October for a business trip and we (my wife and I) will write the last chapter of her unfinished #sabbatical in 2022!
My B-Day Greetings 2020:
Long story short: Last year felt like a roller-coaster ride to me. BUT: I learned to embrace change and I learned that I can rely on my #network. I grew. I came out stronger!
Happy belated 40th birthday, Johannes!
